The Alameda PTA Council has officially endorsed Measure I, the local bond measure on the ballot this November funding AUSD facilities improvements. Deferred facilities funding from the State of California has compounded ongoing budget issues for schools throughout California. Measure I will provide much-needed investment to our elementary & middle schools immediately, and will help fund critical needs for Alameda’s high schools in the near future. Alameda schools face an unprecedented need for facilities repairs and upgrades. The PTA Council supports Measure I as a responsible and timely investment in our community and our future.

What does this mean for your units?

• Your unit can vote to endorse or not endorse Measure I

• All information presented on a school related ballot measure can be shared w/o a vote. Your Units support may influence your communities support so the Council encourages each unit to at least discuss the measure at your next PTA meeting.

• If your unit votes to support Measure I, your unit may also decide to support the campaign. IRS guidelines are pretty clear here so any donations of funds or volunteer time need be remain under the 5% threshold.
